Personal:

Alden is married to Susan Brown Cole. They have lived in Wilmington since May, 2003. They have two sons, Brewer and Peyton who were born in June 2007 and two Airedale Terriers, Watson Stewart and Dixie Queen. Susan received her Masters degree in School Psychology from ECU and is employed by the New Hanover County School System.  Alden is a member of the Episcopal church.  Alden's hobbies include golf, running, and literature. Alden served five years in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed out of Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station for four years and also served in the Gulf War.
